Enjoy the unique panorama with views of the Zirbitzkogel and the Ameringkogel in the Murtal region. Information boards at 10 stations along the trail provide answers to numerous questions. It leads you on the trail of this natural cultural landscape with its diverse flora and fauna.

You can start this 12 km long hiking trail either at the Amering municipal office or at the Tirolerwirt inn. (There are parking facilities at both entrances.) The trail covers an altitude difference of 300 metres and is of easy to medium difficulty. There are boards at ten stations that provide information about the natural and cultural landscape and ask you to fulfil small tasks.

From Vienna: Follow the A2, S6 and S36 to Bundesstraße / B78 in Fohnsdorf, take the S36 exit Zeltweg-West. Follow Gaberl Bundesstraße and Obdacher Str. / B78 to Sonnenrain.

A wooded area (tree park) with an exceptionally rich diversity of species extends around the former municipal office. On a circular path of approx. 250 metres, 29 species of trees and shrubs have been found, whose systematic affiliation, age and height of growth, location, distribution and use are described individually on information boards.

Information boards at 10 stations provide information on a wide range of topics relating to the natural and cultural landscape. Forest, meadows, landscape, wildlife, mountain pasture, mountain habitat, water, ribbon fence are just some of the topics covered by the information boards.

Due to the length of the hiking trail, hiking equipment is recommended.You should plan at least half a day for the entire trail.

Visit the observation and adventure hiking trail and enjoy the marvellous views and tranquillity. You will also learn interesting facts about our cultural landscape with its diverse flora and fauna, its special features and hidden secrets.

This tour is NOT considered "accessible by train and bus" because there is no regular connection.

Parking is available at the kindergarten in Amering (Sonnenrain 11, 8742 Obdach).
